Sony XPeria S & XPeria Tablet S to Get Jelly Bean Update in April & May Respectively

While the famous XPeria devices have been update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean flavor, Sony’s last year flagship model is yet to receive this update. This month we saw Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update out to Xperia J, AT&T’s Xperia TL smartphone and it’s only the XPeria S & Tablet S has been left alone for updating.

This Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will bring the much needed Google Now and Project Butter providing better user interface navigation and support.

Sony XPeria Denmark team via their Twitter, last week confirmed that the update to Sony XPeria S will be delivered in the last week of March. As we all know that this update would be release first in European countries like Germany, Britain, Denmark, Portugal, followed with launched in Asian and American countries thereafter. So once Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been delivered, Android 4.2 will be out soon, although few devices might be pulled out of this update.Sony Xperia S Jelly Bean UpdateSony Xperia S Jelly Bean Update

Sony XPeria Tablet S Jelly Bean Update

Althought it would be quick update for XPeria S, the same update to Tablet S would be delayed until April last week or May first week. So that means, by the time updates arrives to Tablet S, we would be near to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie launch at Google I/O event. Additionally this update will resolve the issue of shut down from time to time without any reason on your Tablet S.

Sadly some dejected users have thrown off their interest on using Tablet S as there is no clear roadmap to release of Jelly Bean.

Sony quoted the following in their message at –

We will be releasing Jelly Bean for the Xperia Tablet end of April 2013 / early May 2013 for the Xperia Tablet.  This update will resolve a memory managment issue that may cause the Xperia Tablet to shut down from time to time.

Currently we do not have a roadmap to release the Jelly Bean update for the 1st Generation Tablet (Sony Tablet S).
