WhatsApp is one of the most widely used apps in iOS, Android, Symbian or Windows operating systems. When connected to internet either through Wi-Fi or data connection, the app lets the users communicate with their phone book contacts. Users can send and receive text messages and share photos and videos among group members.

There are various features which let the users communicate with their friends and family quite easily. One such feature is “Last Seen at Time” option which helps others to know since when the user is available online. However, this feature interferes with the privacy of many people who do not want some of their contacts know if they are available online. It is good to have a feature similar to “Invisible” present in Yahoo messenger.

Unfortunately, WhatsApp does not have any option which enables the users to go invisible or hide their online status from few/all of the contacts list. However, there is an option to block certain contacts from the list.

Hide Last Seen TimeStamp

Please follow the steps as described below so that the contacts can be blocked easily.

1. Open WhatsApp by tapping on the icon present in the Menu. By default it opens the chat screen.
2. Now tap the Menu button. Select the settings option from a list of menu and then go to the Contacts option.
3. Now go to the Blocked Contacts list; this page displays all the blocked contacts present in the list.
4. Now tap the Add blocked contacts option (present in the upper right corner of the screen) and keep on adding the contacts.
5. To unblock any contact, go to the blocked contact list and long press on the contact. An option will appear on the screen to unblock the contact.
6. To block an unknown contact, simply open the chat conversation, scroll on the top and tap the block option.

Once a particular contact is blocked, the user will no longer be receiving any messages from that contact and the “last seen at time” and online status will not be visible to them. However, please note that the blocking a contact in WhatsApp will have no impact on your phone book.
